****Remember, I don't expect this to interest anyone except Brax's Grandparents... I print this blog into a scrapbook so I do this for posterity's sake, not to bore you!!!********
HEIGHT/WEIGHT/TOOTH COUNT: 34 Inches, 23 lbs. still. 5 teeth erupted (#F, G, O, P and Q), one (#E) bubbling in right now! That's 4 teeth in one month... fun. Size 6 shoes, 24 month tops, 18 month bottoms.
PERSONALITY: Brax is a man on a mission. He knows what he wants, without saying a word (at least not in English), he makes his desires clear. Mostly we just get a lot of pointing and whining noises, but he will occasionally sign "all done." He is developing a sense of humor--when I go in to get him out of bed (after seeing on the monitor that he is standing up, fully awake and rearin' to go), he will throw himself back down and bury his face in his blanket or stuffed animals and act like he's still sleepy, as he grins from behind his "nite-nite" (pacifier). And he laughs when he poots. That's always funny.
WHAT HE'S LEARNED: He has discovered that he is tall enough to reach doorknobs and pull things off of the countertops, and too tall to make the clearance under the kitchen table. Guess it's time for "Phase II" of child-proofing. He has learned how to stab food with his spork and manages to find his mouth with it every now and then. He can scribble with a crayon, make it up and down the little step/ledge from the driveway to the garage without falling, and he drinks from the cup in the bathtub all by himself (the water can't be that dirty, right?). He walks with his hands down to his sides now (instead of using them for balance) and is almost running. Another exciting milestone is that Brax can function on just one nap a day so that allows for lots more action during the day! It depends on the day, but if we are out and about in the morning he does okay with just an afternoon nap.
FAVORITE FOODS: Much of the same... Oatmeal, yogurt and milk for breakfast every day (I've given up on trying to vary the menu), fruit, cereal and water for morning snack, some type of pasta (Gerber raviolies, "red noodles," or home-made mac and cheese), Gerber turkey or chicken sticks, a veggie (peas, carrots or green beans) and milk for lunch, cottage cheese, crackers, or beans and water for afternoon snack, then dinner is basically a repeat of lunch. The GREAT news is that he basically weaned himself off his morning bottle!! He just started sleeping thru it one day! I keep one bottle in the cabinet still "in case of emergency," but he hasn't wanted one for most of the month. He makes this so easy!!
So a typical day--
Wakes up between 7-8am
Breakfast ASAP!
If needed, a nap from 9:45-10:45
Snack whenever
Lunch at 12
If he had a morning nap, then he doesn't go down again until 2:30 ish. If he skipped it, then he goes down by 12:30 or 1. This nap lasts from 1-2 hours usually.
Snack whenever
Dinner at 5:30
6:30ish--Bath, books, then bedtime by 7:30ish
FAVORITE PEOPLE: Other kids, and dogs!! He LOVES dogs. And NO, we are NOT getting one. Another kid, maybe, but NEVER a smelly dog.
FAVORITE BOOKS: Picture books--he likes to point at things and I name them.
FAVORITE TOYS: Golf clubs, monster truck, little cars.
FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Playing in his new playroom, of course!!!!!! He loves going down the slide head first.
FAVORITE SONGS: Daddy's itunes playlist--he is such a funny dancer!
DISLIKES: Me picking his nose with a Q-tip, Me brushing his teeth, getting a haircut. Pretty much anything where he has to sit still.
FUNNY THINGS HE DID: The first time we saw him really dance. My cheeks and stomach hurt from laughing so hard. We were trying to be quiet so we didn't "distract" him, but it was HILARIOUS.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS: When he started sleeping thru that morning bottle! The first morning, I was afraid he quit breathing in his sleep. The second morning, I thought, "He must be sick." The third morning, I woke up around 5 (my internal clock is set to his old schedule!), looked at the monitor, then rolled over and slept in till 8am!!!!!!!!
